Prologue
Year 2018, middle of the Pacific Ocean, an island had risen
from the sea and onto the surface. China, America and United Kingdoms, the
three superpower countries in the world tried to claim the island as their own.
With constant dispute over the ownership of the land, diplomacy had failed and
resulted to their military powers.
The pilot of the F-16 jet fighter of the United States Air
Force checked in with the radio to their Forward Operating Base (FOB).
“F.O.B, this is F16-01, 20 clicks to two six zero.”
“Copy that F16-01.”
Their mission were to survey the island’s airspace, to
maintain control by taking out anyone within range. Two F16 jets were flying
side by side in the sky, circling around the island, they could see a land vast
with green and a large volcanic mountain in the middle. One could see strange
large birds flying, along with wondering animals that no other human had
ever seen before.
“This is F16-01, we’re going to fly in low altitude on the
island and commence surveying.”
“Roger that F16-01, F16-02 your orders are to continue
surveying from high altitude.”
“Copy that F.O.B.”
Ending the transmission, the jet dove nose down towards the
island, however next thing his partner saw was a perfectly good jet being
crushed from the head. Like a car ramming into a steel wall, the jet rammed
into something, causing it to be crushed and to explode.
“Shit! God damn it! F.O.B this is F16-02! F16-01 is down, I
repeat, F16-01 is down!”
After the smoke disappeared, he could see a force field of
some kind, like the printing of a turtle’s shell. Semi-transparent, with a hint
of pink and blue electrical current running in the area where the jet fighter
exploded. After a few seconds, the barrier disappeared and became completely
invisible, leaving no trance behind.
“This is the fourth expedition to the Island, we have lost 6
jet fighters, two submarines and 15 UAVs! What more, we have lost contact with
two platoons of Marines!”
Screaming at his generals, the president of United States
slammed his angered fists onto his desk, knocking the pile of paperwork to fall
onto the ground. He closed his eyes and rubbed his temples with his hands.
“The barrier of this island is nothing like what we have
seen before. One could get into these barriers fine, however, their electrical
equipment and even their weapons rusted as soon as they entered. Worst thing
is, the men who have entered the island, could not get out, no matter what they
tried to do.”
The generals were panicking, America has never faced such a
loss before. Their scanners were not working, no radio transmission could be
made.
Only thing they were
sure of was:
- Humans were allowed to go through, once through, there was no coming back.
- No electrical or metal equipment would survive past the barriers.
- The barriers were indestructible.
Knock knock knock
A knock could be heard from the door, however, with no
passcodes. The bodyguards tensed up and drew their pistols from their holsters.
“Who goes there!?”
“Protect the president!”
Without opening the door, a man dressed in purple robe
walked through the door like a ghost.
While screaming, the bodyguards emptied their entire clip to
the figure, however, all the bullets were just going through this person, not
injuring him at all.
Click click click
The camber was empty, they had ran out of bullets. The
mysterious man in the robe lifted his hand and the four bodyguards suddenly
dropped lifelessly like a puppet with its strings cut off.
“W-who are you!?”
The president pointed his finger at the figure and screamed
out.
The man in the robe took off his hood, complete white hair
and his copper skin had blue markings that shined light across his face. Then
he spoke:
“I am from the Island.”
“Who are you people? Why have you come here?”
“We were the owners of this world… once. The largest and
most technological advanced society in the world! To think the outside world
has only progressed this far… I am very disappointed.”
“What kind of rubbish are you spewing?”
The robbed man put his palm on his face and shook his head.
Tisk tisk tisk
“Do you still don’t get it?”
Opening his eyes wide and while laughing he whispered:
“We are Atlantians.”
